Song #3

Ever had a song that defined you at some time period in your life? Well, at one point for me it was the Talking Heads 'Memories Can't Wait.'
For Song #3, I was thinking alot about drugs. I wanted to write about the way it feels when it all starts getting out of control, and the unravelling really sets in. I had a tough time with the harmonies (some of them are friggin' high), but I think they finally came out ok. I really like the way it sounds in the headphones.

Song #3 is called My Last High

I have to tell you this, and I hope it comes off completely non stalkerish and freaky, but I love the sound of your voice. I really could listen to you sing for hours.

Dude, you have a stalker! Judging from the picture, I'm betting you don't mind. Having a stalker puts you on the A-list, doesn't it?

She's got a point, too - you do have a pretty good sound. Much better than most of those goofs on reality TV.

let me tell you. i honestly love the song. good music. keep it up.

Did you put all the harmonies together with your own voice? I always like when a song puts a vocal harmony in. It reminds me of "Because," or some Beach Boys shit. I liked it.

i might have to steal a credit card, love this song.
yummy chorus.

I finally figured your voice out. It's kind of Ben Folds with a little Ben & Sebastian in there. That's just to me, though.

I actually think its pretty good. I think you should stick with it man. Take it from a lawyer who wishes he were a photographer - follow your dreams brother.

Good question. Unfortunately I don't know the answer. I know, I sound a bit moaney at the moment and I hate that, but I'm just venting.

Thanks for trying to help, though. The problem is that anyone that does try to help probably won't be able to, because I don't know how they could. I just don't want to feel like I'm alone and trying to deal with this all by myself, any more.

Like the new song, it's a goodie.

I agree with Scott... follow your dreams! You sound great!

I appreciate the comment you left on the photo's I have taken. I just wanted to say I heard your songs and they are amazing. "My last high" is a great song I hope to hear more from you.

J -- My favorite thus far. I love the way you punched up the intensity in the melody about halfway through the song -- it really added a lot of emotion and clarity to your vocals. "Stalker Heather" may have a point about the quality of your voice, my friend. :-)

Thanks, by the way, for the congrats on my promotion. But put that resume away, hon -- just keep doing what you're doing musically and the only thing you'll need that resume for is to line your catbox.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I'm going to listen to your song again...

Enjoyed "My Last High", both the song, and also, my last high. As long as people are are noting comparisons, I hear a lot of Kim Deal in your voice, a sound that has been sadly absent from music as of late.

thanks for the (brief) advice...looks like I'll most likely be moving to LA after this year

Nice. Remember: stalkers don't count until they know your adress and middle name. Until then they are prospective stalkers. These little things are the important things that make or break stardom. That and playing ability (which you have), but thats becoming less important these days.

i'll have to sit down later and give it a listen... and maybe make a top five list about it while i'm at it. cheers.

Hello, you left a post on my blog telling me not to die at the momemnt, so I thought that I should visit yours, listen to the song, and tell you what I thought. I liked it. . . it has a nice sound and good vocals. I also like your recording studio set-up . . . I have a friend that has the same Yamaha AW16G recorder as you. . . he set up a studio in his kitchen as it was the best place in the house for recording-sound quality, and ever since has made me come over to help make tracks with him.

I wish I would have gotten your offer for advice on LA before I got home! Your music sounds great though! Next time!

No, I didn't catch Midlake. I didn;t get to see as many bands as I would have liked this year. Too many playing at the same time.

Anyway, like the new song.
Still am liking the first the best, though.
Can't wait for next weeks.

Noted! Thanks again for happening across my humble little blog, however you came across it. :-) Keep on rockin'!

Indeed I did do that sketch, it turned out okay-ish. Thanks for the compliment =)

I'll probably do a few more at some point, but don't know when I'll be able to blog again as am moving into my new house tomorrow and the internet situation is currently non-existent.
