When my computer (XP or Vista) is idle for a few minutes, the read-write lamp begins to flash like a defrag or virus scan is running. When I open the task manager, a "system idle process" seems to be active. I have turned off scheduled defragmenting, windows defender and virus scans, and even in my travel laptop with no antivirus this "dreaming" occures. It must be a windows component as this happens even on a new computer, without any third party software. I'd rather not have my hard drive thrashing like this every day if it is not necessary. Yes, I was thinking about moving to Portland and I was going to go during Christmas time, but it got postponed. Do you miss living there? I was beginning to get really sick of living here in SoCal, but in a way I know that I’m going to regret moving. But there’s a huge veggie scene there in Portland and that’s what is drawing me in (plus some of my cousins live there…I guess you can call that a bonus?).

Oh! I’ve been meaning to tell you that you should send a track sample thing to this one radio station’s show. It’s on Indie 103.1 (www.indie1031.com) and I think it’s called…Check 1, 2. They play underground artists that are either on small indie records and ones without. I don’t know if you’ve heard of the station, but you should check it out. Do they have Indie there in Venice? For some reason I can’t remember.

I quit smoking quite often. I've done it more than anyone I know. Currently, I'm about 6 months. I have no problem quitting, but I usually start again for something stupid, like being drunk and just wanting to smoke. I never go through withdrawal or go crazy, I just put it down, then pick it up again after a few months. This time, I should be ok, though, because my wife quit (this time for good, she says), so that just eliminates tempatation.

Great song. Very good. I'm sure it either made you want to smoke more, or had you so focused that you forgot about smoking.

I am six years smoke-free now. And after every race I run, I thank God for it.

Hang in there. It gets so much easier, I PROMISE. Eventually, weeks will go by and you'll suddenly realize, "Hey, I haven't even THOUGHT about smoking in weeks."

My two biggest "Oh-my-God-I-want-a-smoke-so-bad-I'm-gonna-go-postal-any-second-now!" obstacles were: driving in my car with the radio blaring and the windows rolled down, and any time I had a beer in my hand.
